About Eyeshadow
Eyeshadow is the fundamental step of eye make-up. It brings colour, depth and dimension to the eyelid.
Basic application
- Base: Apply a thin layer of concealer or powder to the eyelid. This helps the shadow stay in place all day and makes the colours look more vivid.
- Transition shade: Spread a light tone close to your skin colour into the crease. This step makes the darker shades applied later look soft.
- Main colour: Apply to the mobile eyelid.
- Depth: Add the dark shade to the outer corner and blend inwards.
- Highlight: Touch a light tone onto the inner corner of the eye and under the brow.
For lasting wear
Shadow can crease on an oily eyelid; using a base reduces this noticeably. Tap off the excess when you load your brush as well — fallen shadow spoils base make-up. That is why professionals do eye make-up before base make-up.
What comes next
After eyeshadow comes eyeliner or a tightliner, and mascara last of all.
This is a cosmetic product. Avoid getting it in the eye; if sensitivity develops, stop using it.
